What a great story. Aside from the initial "bad" scene, and a few gory moments here and there, it was a beautiful story. I am not a huge fan of historical books, and I'm saddened to say that I consider a book of this time period as historical. Nevertheless, this was so well written that I was sucked right into the lives of Gabe and Joey. With Gabe being in for two life sentences, I had a hard time believing this could end well right from the get go. I loved these two together though and was rooting for them almost from the beginning. I was both happy and sad with the ending, and found myself wishing for more details of their time together.
