This is a very promising start to a very interesting series. It is definitely on the heavier, gritty side of things, and there is for sure no romance. But, I read it in one sitting and did not want to put it down.
The biggest issue I had was that, when the scenes changed from one brother to another, I didn't realize it until a few sentences later when a name didn't match up. This disrupted my reading flow quite a bit throughout the story, as I had to continually read back to make sure I didn't just miss something. Aside from that, it was very well written and wonderfully (or horrifically) detailed.
I was also left with quite a few questions which I hope get answered in the next installment, which I am happy we won't have to wait to long for.
