This one took a little bit for me to get up to speed for some reason. Declan, previously Connor's friend and retrieving partner, is allowed one week to bring Connor in, dead or alive, and to off Micah. He is forced to take along Levi, a fae assassin, to complete the job, although Levi has agreed to allow Declan the seven days to handle things himself. Declan and Levi share a background and were in love but then something happened for Declan to consider Levi a traitor. They are apparently in love still, though they don't really know anything about each other, aside from their sexual chemistry. I had a really difficult time feeling the connection with these two, even when they actually did have sex.
They find Connor and Micah, with the unknowing help of new character, Phin, who is a magical elf. Unfortunately, we don't really see much of Connor and Micah, and they are rarely in the same scene together, so I felt a bit disconnected from them as well.
Joseph makes an appearance as well, and I actually did feel some of the tension between him and Phin, but it was quite fleeting. The story moves along, but I found I was a bit more interested in that than any of the characters. I'm hoping for more about Phin or Joseph in the next segment.
